How to Remove a Page in Word – Remove Blank or Extra Pages

Here's how to get rid of those pesky white spaces in your Word doc once and for all! If there are blank pages in the middle of your document, it's probably because you accidentally added a paragraph or a page break. The same thing could happen if the blank page appears at the end of the document, but it could also be the result of Word's "hidden end paragraph" feature. Making the paragraph and page break markers visible and making the necessary changes or deletions will get rid of any unwanted white space.

If you are using Microsoft Word to create your document, you do not want there to be any extra pages or blank pages at the end or in the middle of your document.

Tables, pressing the Enter key multiple times in rapid succession, section breaks that aren't necessary, unintentional page breaks, additional paragraph markers, and a number of other factors can all contribute to a page count that is higher than what was intended.

Because you do not want your Word document to seem unprofessional as a result of this peculiarity, I will demonstrate how to delete blank and extra pages in Word in the following section of this article.

Because the majority of the steps are consistent across all versions of Microsoft Office, you are free to follow along using whichever version of Microsoft Office you prefer.

The Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Rid of a Blank Page in the Middle of a Word Document

Users of Microsoft Word may at some point or another come across this issue: a blank page either in the middle or at the end of a document that cannot be deleted. Disappointing! You have the option to print only specific pages, but this does not really solve the issue.

If you are working with a significant Word document and are about to present it or print it, check to see if there are any blank pages and if there is an additional page at the end of the document.

Either by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + 8, or by going to the Home tab and clicking on the icon that looks like a paragraph, you can accomplish this.

This combination of keys brings up a paragraph marker at the end of each paragraph as well as at the beginning of the extra blank page. When you press the ENTER key, paragraph markers will appear. They will also appear at the beginning of each line that is blank.

To get rid of these extra pages, first select the paragraph markers with your mouse or trackpad, and then press the DELETE button on your keyboard. You can remove any lingering markers from the screen by pressing the "Backspace" key on your keyboard.
